We will be having OUR "GRAND OPENING" on Sunday, August 21st from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m I hope that you can ALL join us. We will have light refreshments (I hope we don't run out) and we hopefully will have standing room only! I feel that since YOU have all donated to MATTHEW 25 in one or another that this food pantry is part yours. We, at MATTHEW 25 could not serve our community if it wasn't for YOU! So please come down and visit! Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thank YOU! Thank YOU! Thank YOU!  Because of ALL your prayers...God has heard us and is giving us a brand new, brighter, spacious place.  Our new address will be: 298 Main Street, Catskill, New York .  It is right next to Nadalie's Nook, we hope to be in by June.

The boys have been cleaning, painting, fixing ceilings and steam cleaning the rugs.  They have done a fantastic job.  A SPECIAL Thank You! goes to John Dushane, Billy Harte and Stan Dushane.  I really appreciate ALL the work you have done for us.  Also, a VERY special "Thank You!" to Mr. and Mrs. Michael O'Brien.  They were kind enough to help make our dreams come true.

At Matthew 25, we will be implementing new programs such as; Client's Choice, Power Pack Program, Book Exchange and a brand new group of children called "Matthew's Helping Hands!"

You just gotta love it!  It all comes together when we are united in prayer.

Thanks Everyone!

Matthew 25 Food Pantry is outgrowing itself.  We have used up EVERY nook and cranny that we can find.  The GOOD news is.. ALL our clients are wonderful!  They are becoming like family!  They never complain and we make do!  BUT God has answered our prayers and we MAY be moving to a bigger place, a more centrally located place.  So YOU keep me in your prayers AND keep an eye out for more upcoming news about our new location!

Thank YOU!

Mallory's Lemonade Stand

Mallory Braden, a future business woman, opened her very first Lemonade Stand today.  Mallory comes from Coxsackie, New York and just turned 7 a few days ago.  Mallory was ready to go!  She set up her Lemonade Stand, made the lemonade and got ready to "advertise."  Mallory recruited her brother to help her "advertise" by yelling, "LEMONADE, LEMONADE HERE!"  It was exciting!  After a little sunburn, alot of "advertising" and good customers!  It was time for Mallory to close up her shop.  Mallory didn't want to go... she wanted to stay as long as possible!  When asked by her mom what she wanted to do with the money.  Mallory said she wanted to feed the children.  Mallory kept no money for herself.  She donated ALL $51.00 dollars to Matthew 25 Food Pantry.  Mallory's eyes lit up when we told her that we could buy alot of food for that money... we can purchase approximately 306 pounds of food!

I know that Mallory is sleeping soundly tonight and I hope she has sweet dreams.  How could she not?  This little 7 year old girl not only gave her time today, but her little heart as well.  Thank YOU, Mallory!  May God's blessings be upon you always!  We truly appreciate your kindness here at Matthew 25. :D

Christmas 2010

Well... we made it through Christmas!  It was glorious.  With the extra food that we got from the Boy Scouts, the churches and individual donors we had more than enough to give away!  Soon we will be starting a new year.  During the holidays, more people I have noticed are generous.  They are more apt to donate during the holiday season.  Which is wonderful... this shows me that I am not in this alone... we are in this together!

I have to tell you this story of "Christmas Love."  A beautiful, young lady from Albany County, saw my

Facebook Matthew 25 Food Pantry page during the summer of 2010.  On it was the story of how Ms. Liberti's Girl Scouts Troop made birthday bags.  She liked it so much that she decided to make Christmas Bags.  Well, when I was told this... Naturally... I said GREAT!  But when she came down to visit... I was pleasantly surprised.  The young ladies name is Wendy Fitzgerald, shel  is contained to a wheel chair.  When she came to Catskill, she came with her Home Health Aide, Cindy Horowitz and her mom... "Hospice Nurse of the Year!"  Wendy made 4 bags for boys and 4 bags for girls.  She individually wrapped each gift and put them in Christmas bags.  They were beautiful!  Please realize that she started doing the preparations in July and finished them by the end of November.  God Bless Wendy!  All that Wendy wanted was... not glory for her.... but for others to see what she accomplished and to follow suit!  That was my gift of love this Christmas! and that is truly all I needed.  Thank you Wendy!

PS - I will post a picture of Wendy on my photos!

Food Drive At School

My boss, Dr. Farrell has allowed me to have a Food Drive at work.  I work for the Catskill Central School District.  The parents sent cans of food in with their children and I had a Poster Contest.  Every class from First to Fifth took part.  I had 3 winners.  First, second and third place, for each grade level.  It was so hard to pick winners!  They were all wonderful.  I purchased trophies and suprised the students with them.  I also brought an awareness of the hunger in our community!
